NimbleBit hops back into the pond with social freemium Pocket Frogs
Could be ribbiting
US developer NimbleBit must have a thing about frogs. It's already released the enjoyable Dizzypad and now it's heading back into the pond with Pocket Frogs.
It looks like a surprisingly ambitious game too, considering the subject matter.
Watery, domesticA freemium title, it will mix social elements with froggy interactions, in that 10,000 unique frogs (non realistic species, we should point out) are promised; a total you can aim for as you discover, collect, trade, and breed the hoppy blighters.
So mixing up elements of Pokemon, Animal Crossing and We Rule, you find eggs and hatch them out. This take times so you can buy growth potions to speed up the process - a la We Rule's mojo - or let nature take its course.
Breeding frogs enables you to choose different offspring, and each frog has a value, based on the in-game virtual currency, coins. Indeed, it costs coins to breed frogs, with more coins meaning rarer offspring. You can buy certain species at the FrogMart as well.
Frog a friendYou can also ask and receive requests from your friends to breed frogs, using a reward system called stamps. These are also used to gift frogs between friends.
Customisation comes with the different habitats you set up, with yet more options in terms of buying items using coins. The more items in a habitat, the happier your frogs will be.
Who would have thought frogs could be so complex?
Pocket Frogs is due for release soon, and uses the Plus+ network for its social backbone.
