Neon-infused shmup Plasma Sky is set to cruise onto the App Store on March 18th. Yep, next Monday.
Created by one-man developer John Dunbar (a.k.a. Spikepit Games), Plasma Sky is a space shooter which combines the visuals styles of Geometry Wars and Asteroids with the gameplay of a vertically scrolling blast-'em-up.
In Plasma Sky - which is undeniably gentler on the synapses than a bullet-hell shooter - you're put in charge of a small orange spacecraft.
After assuming command of your ship, you have to direct your perpetually firing craft through increasingly challenging waves of enemies and asteroids.
Space is the place
It takes a while for Plasma Sky to up the ante, and the first 20 stages are relatively sedate. Clear those levels, however, and you'll soon have an engaging fight on your hands.
Plus, if you find yourself breezing through the 80-level Conquest Mode, Plasma Sky offers an endless Hardcore Mode for those who relish the thrill of being one hit away from death.
Plasma Sky actually represents a bit of a side project for Dunbar, who spends his days working as part of a larger games development team on titles like Torchlight and Torchlight 2.
If you like the look of the Plasma Sky trailer (above), you'll be able to download the game for a one-off payment of £1.49 / $1.99 on Monday.
Android fans, meanwhile, can expect Plasma Sky to land on Google Play "soon".
