Dice Soccer developer LambdaMu Games and prolific smartphone game publisher Chillingo are preparing to launch a brand-new pixel-art-infused city-building simulation for the iPhone and iPad.

It's called Pixel People, and it'll be available to download from Apple's App Store on January 31st.

In this upcoming title, you play the role of a mayor, who's tasked with building homes and attracting futuristic clones to a floating space-age city called Utopia.

The clones that arrive at your city are "blank slates", so it's up to you to provide them with their very own identity. How? By splicing together two pieces of genetic material, natch.

Splice together the genetic material of a mayor and a mechanic, for example, and you'll create an engineer.

You can then put this engineer, along with any of the other 149 characters that you manage to create, to work in your city's various mines and factories.

Like most city-building games, Pixel People features a premium currency that you can earn in small amounts and buy through in-app purchases.

You can exchange this currency, Utopium, for general cash or spend it in order to instantly complete tasks.

Once again, Pixel People will be available to download from the App Store on January 31st, so keep your eyes peeled for it.
