A pig's life can be tough, but it seems its afterlife can be even worse.

At least it is for the poor sow in Pigs Can't Fly. Fortunately though, what's hellish for angelic pigs can be pretty fun for the rest of us.

The aim of Pigs Can't Fly is to get the poor unfortunate pig you're controlling to the exit door. You tap on the left and right sides of the screen to flap in those directions, and tap both sides to go straight up.

Bacon of the damned

Things are made far more difficult once deadly spikes, hot lava, and tiny devils wielding meat tenderisers are thrown into the mix. And there are bosses at the end of each area that relentlessly chase you through a gauntlet of horrible obstacles.

Sometimes you need to find keys to unlock the exit, and there are stars to grab as well.

The stars aren't necessary to progress, but nabbing them all is definitely something you can brag to your friends about.

They're often positioned in difficult-to-reach places, and if you want to unlock the game's costumes, you'll need to figure out how to get them.

Oink! The herald angels sing

Pigs Can't Fly is a challenging game, and it pushes the "flappy" genre much further than we've seen before.

You're not just shooting through narrow openings; you're navigating complex strings of deadly obstacles.

But that challenge can make it more frustrating than fun. And that frustration is heightened by some sloppy controls.

Falling on the way to the exit is one thing, but when you've carefully steered your way through several hazards dying because your screen-presses weren't recognised is infuriating.

In small doses, Pigs Can't Fly is a lot of fun. It's far from a revolution, but it does a decent job of trying something a little different.

Plus how many other games let you guide a top hat-wearing pig spirit through the depths of hell?

Pigs Can't Fly livens up the flappy formula, but its problems can be more than a little aggravating
