First-person RPGs are enjoying a resurgence in popularity recently thanks to the success of games like Etrian Odyssey IV and those in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

One first-person RPG that slipped under our radar last year was the beautifully hand-drawn Paper Sorcerer, which completed a modestly successful ($13,000) Kickstarter campaign back in July of 2012.

The man behind the game, Jesse Gallagher, has been hard at work on the Paper Sorcerer ever since he completed the fundraising campaign and DroidGamers reports that he's created over 600 pages of sketches to help bring it to life.

Armour Class-y

Gallagher's labour of love was influenced heavily by the classic style of early Dungeons & Dragons rulebook illustrations.

And like the old school aesthetic of Dungeons & Dragons, Paper Sorcerer will feature plenty of skills - over 300 - for players to master as they progress through the 50 (yes, fifty!) dungeons that sprang from Gallagher's markers.

We don't know when to expect Paper Sorcerer on Google Play or the App Store yet, nor do we have a price for it, but we'll be keep you up-to-date with news on the title's release as soon as we have more to report.
