Bubble bursting coin-op classic to harpoon the App Store

Exclusive: Pang popping onto the iPhone

Every so often a game comes along, like Tetris or Bejeweled, that's so simple it's impossible not to get addicted to it. Pang, in which you travel the world chucking harpoons at bubbles, was one such game.

Sounds surreal if you've never played it, but hopefully all you pocket gamers who missed it in the arcades way back in 1989 (and on almost every home gaming system since then, including several mobile iterations) will get to sample those balloon-bursting delights as Player X brings us an iPhone adaptation.

Pang tests your reflexes to their elastic limit as the bubbles split in two with each well-thrown spear, then split again into smaller and smaller spheres for you to dodge and eliminate.

It looks like a pixel perfect adaptation, with some suped-up visuals and a toe-tapping new soundtrack. More Pang info as we get it, but in the meantime check out the gameplay video below, you retro lover you.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
