Painkiller Purgatory for iPhone blasts onto the New Zealand App Store

3D shooter Painkiller Purgatory has debuted on the New Zealand App Store, which means that it should be on the UK store around midnight.

Painkiller Purgatory is a spin-off of the 2004 first-person shooter Painkiller by People Can Fly, the studio that brought us Bulletstorm in conjunction with Epic. The iPhone game is developed by Machineworks Northwest, the studio behind Duke Nukem on iPhone. Assuming the role of Daniel Garner, you have to fight your way through the underworld, defeating monsters and giant bosses in a bid to overthrow Lucifer and forestall a war between angels and hell’s army.

The game features an array of deadly weaponry that can be used across the 34 levels, while the game features support and achievements for the Crystal social platform.

Painkiller Purgatory costs $6.49 NZD, which equates to £2.99 / $4.99.
