Ovivo is a game that, at first glance, looks like something you'll have played before. There's a simple black and white art style, easy to learn controls, and a side-flipping mechanic that sounds like something you've definitely heard before.

But when you get into the meat of the experience, you'll find something exciting, interesting, and really rather fun.

Oh my

There are a number of different control options, and all of them work really well. Pick the one that suits you best and you'll be dropped into the first level where you'll learn the ropes.

You're playing a small blob, and you can move left and right. Tapping the screen swaps the blob onto the other side of the level, switching the blob from black to white. A black blob can move through white, a white blob can move through the black.

It sounds like a simple idea, but as you progress you'll find it's full of interesting new mechanics. Switching between the hues changes the gravity, seeing you fall down what before you'd be stuck.

You can use the change to jump across gaps. There are spikes that can harm you either way, swaying flowers you need to negotiate, and plenty of other surprises that layer up as you make your way through the levels.

There's challenge here too. It's not the most difficult game in the world, but there are plenty of sections where you're going to have to figure out what you have to do and where you need to go.

But things never degrade into frustration, and when you get past something difficult you'll always find something new and exciting waiting for you.

Vivo mobile

Ovivo offers up the sort of innovation that many platformers are sorely lacking. It's a mix of ideas, it's easy to pick up, and it's an awful lot of fun.

This is one of those games that you need to play, and one of those games where finishing feels like something of a wrench.

If you're a fan of platforming, then there's a lot you're going to love here. If you're not though, Ovivo offers an excellent way into the genre that will leave you pleasantly surprised.
