Gameloft makes some good games. In fact, it made four of Pocket Gamer's top ten iPhone games of the last 12 months. But what Gameloft doesn't do, to the constant disbelief and amusement of the iPhone gaming world, is make very many games that aren't blatant clones.

For example, the four games in the top ten – N.O.V.A. 2, Starfront: Collision, Modern Combat 2, and Let's Golf! 2 - are 'homages' to Halo, StarCraft, Call of Duty, and Everybody's Golf respectively.

The studio's latest project may be its most ambitious to date. Chaos & Order Online, which Gameloft has just announced out of the blue, is a fantasy MMO in the style of World of Warcraft. Say what you like about originality – World of Warcraft on iPhone is an intriguing prospect, so fair play to Gameloft for taking it on.

There's not much information to go on at the moment. The trailer, embedded below, features clips of fantasy figures in a fantasy world doing magic. We'll have to wait to find out whether it'll be one of the freemium games Gameloft has promised for 2011.

While you wait for details, you can go to the game's Facebook page and vote for your camp – Order or Chaos. If you happen to be in the camp with the most votes you get to see the game's “secrets” - screenshots and trailers, presumably.
