Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast review - Put that in your pipe and smoke it

Whether you're an antagonistic person or someone who just likes to stay quiet in an argument there's something very satisfying about doling out silly insults.

Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast is essentially more of the same of its predecessor, The Insult Simulator, but that's not a bad thing. It just adds more movie references and less Monty Python jokes.

If you've played the first game, you'll know what's up. Two characters go head-to-head, but rather than using their fists they're using their words. The bigger your combination, the better your damage will be.

You take it in turns, whether you're playing against a bot or another person, and pick your very best insult combination to Roast your opponent.

Apart from providing a cohesive argument you've got a number of factors that can affect your score. Each character has a personal weakness, like wealth or originality, and you can also earn more points through using combos.

There's also a new comeback feature which lets you end your sentences with a little more pizzazz. When you pull this move you'll also get a character-related mini pet to back you up, like Dobby the House Elf or Frodo the Hobbit.

The new scoring system is also pretty cool. Whenever you start roasting your opponent you'll see exactly what score you got for each part of the insult at the bottom of the screen. It doesn't change or affect anything, but it is a neat feature.

The insults themselves are definitely more universal, tapping into popular culture and film, and getting away with using recognisable characters by giving them a spin.

Strip away all of the externals, however, and it is essentially the same game with a different design.

Once you've been playing for a couple of hours to unlock all of the characters, the insults start repeating and grow rather tedious with time.

The actual Career mode is shorter than expected. For each character you have win your insult battle, which isn't exactly hard, and try and reach each of the goals. The combination of insults can occasionally get you pretty big scores so rounds are over pretty quickly.

However, if you're sick of playing against the AI in single player, you've also got two-player mode to dive into. This can either be through couch multiplayer or via the internet to insult people across the globe.

Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast may not offer something totally new, but it's still a lot of fun when you are taking part, especially against other humans.
