Added at 12:00, February 25th MATE..
By Noxus Ltd. - 69p / 99c
This one looks like Unpossible, and seems to be part of the ever-growing family of abstract, rage-inducing dodge 'em ups. I like the calming colours of the obstacles, which surely help make you feel less furious when you slam headfirst into them.
SUM IDEABy Twiddly - Free
This is not one for the peanut butter-brained amongst you. It's a very tricky puzzler about manipulating a board of numbers to get them in the right position - and you'll be adding, subtracting, and multiplying as you switch them around. I played it at a Big Indie Pitch and my brain resigned on the spot.
Prison Life RPGNob Studio - £2.99 / $3.99
A rather unpleasant game about trying to survive, work, and maybe even break out from jail. There are 100 prisoners to interact with (all pop culture references, for some reason), and you'll want to form alliances with some, and stay well away from others, to keep alive.
Joe Dever's Lone Wolf CompleteBy Bulkypix - £7.99 / $9.99
Want to get all four episodes of the rather-good gamebook series, Lone Wolf? This app does just that, offering up Blood on the Snow, Forest Hunt, The Shianti Halls, and Dawn Over V'Taag for a saving of about two quid.
Flop RocketBy Butterscotch Shenanigans - Free
Butterscotch Shenanigans has put its madcap own spin on the Flappy Bird craze, with a bonkers game about dodging and blasting spacetime anomalies, cave worms, and space ducks in a randomly generated cave. You'll also get to upgrade your ship and use power-ups.
Added at 12:00, February 24th Age of Sparta
By Gameloft - Free
If Frank Miller can reimagine the epic battle between the Spartans and Xerxes's Persian army with 300, then so can Gameloft.
You lead the Spartans by building their city, fighting in tactical battles, and allying with other players. You can even call on Zeus, Hades, and make use of mythical beasts.
FiskBy Bulkypix - Free
Imagine Threes! or 2048, instead you're a little red fish trying to survive the food chain. You have to move the fish in a way that it eats other fish, grows, and conquers the board.
Rocket JoustBy Dobsoft Studios - £1.49 / $1.99
Your aim in Rocket Joust is to knock your opponents out of the sky. Looking good while doing it is a bonus. You can go up against the AI or other players to battle on rockets with amusing ragdoll physics.
The EmptyBy Magic Frame Studios - Free
You are a pink diamond who, frankly, has had enough of those grey shapes. So you vouch to be by yourself as long as possible. The idea here is to remain in empty space in order to survive in tight, strangely shaped arenas.
SymmetricaBy Unauthorized Games - Free
Flying through space at high-speed and avoiding any collisions would probably be challenging enough. But no, here we have a game about tapping to control two fast-moving rockets as they fly through space. It's sparkly and tough.
The Hopping DeadBy Matthew Roszak - 79p / 99c
Zombies meets Crossy Road. Sort of. The idea here is to hop on the heads of zombies to kill them, and to do it quickly. You have two options tied to either side of the touchscreen: a small hop, or a large hop. Collect coins, unlock characters, go to new worlds.
SopioBy Lightwood Consultancy - £1.49 / $1.99
Sopio is a real card game about points and puns. This is a digital version so that you can play it even when there's no one else around. You pull cards and try to 1000 points. The cards are often ridiculous (including wombats, giant heads, and crystal bowling balls).
Deeply Absurd ChainBy Lumarama - Free
This is an infinite puzzler. You draw lines between objects to create chains. These are then sucked into one entity and become a new object. Eventually, you start unlocking and creating absurd life forms.
