This is only the third time I've written a Friday round-up of the best iOS games of the week, but I'm already repeating myself by highlighting a stripped down cutesy pixel-art roguelike.

DUNGEONy so closely resembles Tales of the Adventure Company that I could almost copy and paste the description I came up with last time. But I won't.

You play as an adventurer making his way through a series of rooms in a dungeon, killing various fantasy beasts and collecting keys. When you die, you die forever.

Martial skill is no use to you in DUNGEONy, and you won't need to concern yourself with inventory management or character creation or anything else traditionally associated with RPGs. You just need to navigate each room as efficiently as possible.

It's more fun that that description makes it sound.

Mucho Party

This is only the third time I've written a Friday round-up of the best iOS games of the week but I'm already repeating myself by writing about a game I first saw at the Big Indie Pitch in Cologne.

Mucho Party involves two players huddling at either side of an iPad and desperately trying to win assorted pointless contests.

One involves hitting nails through a board. Another is a rhythm-action game in which you have to tap on shoeprints in time to the music while the two sides of the screen revolve so you and your opponent end up playing a sort of angry hand-based Twister.

It's hardly revolutionary, but Mucho Party is a well-honed and likeable mini-game collection with a decent amount of variety and a reasonably generous 30 levels.

Godfire

This is only the third time I've written a Friday round-up of the best iOS games of the week but... actually, no, this bit won't work for this one.

Godfire, like its conspicuous inspiration God of War, draws its story from Greek mythology. You play as Prometheus, the plucky Spartan of legend who stole the fire of the gods from Olympus and is, if eternal really does mean eternal, still out there somewhere, chained to a rock and getting his guts pecked out by a vulture.

Some players are sure to wonder what the point of Godfire is – the God of War series already does it better, on devices more suited to button-mashy sword-based ultra-violence. But God of War isn't available on iOS, and this visually spectacular gorefest is as close as you're likely to get.
