EA passes first details on NBA Live on iPhone

We've known that EA Mobile had plans to bring its basketball series over to iPhone, but today we're getting first concrete details on NBA Live.

All 30 NBA teams will be included, rosters reflecting each team's make up in this year's season. Even better, you can unlock Hall of Fame players and put them in the game.

There are three confirmed modes of play: Season, Playoff, and Exhibition. The latter two modes offer truncated play of the post-season tournament and one-off games.

Season mode looks to be where it's at, with a whopping 82-game schedule. As expected, you can pick your favourite team and guide them through the season in the hopes of making it to the playoffs.

Judging from the screenshots, the game is shaping up to be a baller. EA claims the audio will be just as good, touting commentary from icon Marv Albert and more than a dozen licensed tunes from the likes of Xzibit and Snoop Dogg.

It's hard to glean too much information from the screenshots on how the game controls, though we know movement is handled via a virtual analogue stick. We suspect the purple button in the lower-right corner might be used for passing. The button above it is used for shots.

The free-throw mechanic is of particular interest since it employs the accelerometer for shots. Tilting your handset affects the trajectory of the ball.

We also know that you can set plays from the clipboard icon located in the upper-right corner.

NBA Live is expected later this autumn on the App Store.
