Mr AahH!! is an unlikely daredevil, a faceless stickman with a bulbous head. Even though he knows only one trick, he’s a defiant breath of fresh air and not just because of his unconventional appearance.

The game sees our good man (who bravely refrains from making any exclamations that would confirm his namesake, no matter what you put him through) swing automatically from right to left, moving between platforms using a grappling hook.

The only thing the player has to do is release Mr AahH from his swing at exactly the right moment by tapping the touchscreen, so that he lands on the next platform, adjusting mid-air with a little bit of tilt to get the perfect touchdown. It’s a stultifyingly straightforward concept, but the constant resizing and positioning of the platforms, not to mention the varying gravity and wind elements that come into play, soon bring out the game's addictive personality.

Points are awarded for landing on each subsequent platform, while bonuses and multipliers can be achieved by landing on each platform’s sweet spot. The emphasis is squarely on score hounding and with only three lives, sessions don’t last for long unless your timing skills are exquisitely honed.

The game's biggest failing is that despite laying claim to an innovative, simple and occasionally addictive concept, the lack of any single-player focus – such as achievements or a level system – causes the game to become repetitive. Returning to the start after each session can get daunting after your high score starts to creep into the ten- to 15-minute playtime realm, reducing the game’s long-term appeal.

There is an online leaderboard, but with stiff competition, a high score focused title like this would be much better suited to the smaller more personal competitive groups that orbit the Twitter and Facebook connect multiplayer nuclei.

Still, you can’t argue with a fun new concept for 59p/99c, so although Mr AahH!! may just miss out on a Bronze Award to boast about, it still comes heartily recommended.
