Quick pop quiz: what do Fidel Castro, Noel Gallagher, and Valentino Rossi have in common? Well, they’re all good chums of one Diego Maradona, of course.

Seven-time MotoGP world champion, Valentino, is, like Diego, having a tough time of it at the moment.

Whereas the legendary Argentine’s football charges crashed and burned out of the World Cup to those entertaining Germans, six weeks ago Mr Rossi just simply crashed.

At 120mph, mind.

But what better way to ease the pain of a compound fracture to the right shin than a spot of pocket gaming?

Fortunately for the Italian motorcycling icon, prolific publisher I-play, responsible for the Silver Award-winning Fast & Furious: The Game, dropped us a note to reveal that Moto GP 2010 will be careering round a bend and onto the iPhone racetrack.

No news on pricing, multiplayer, accelerometer controls, or exact release date, but we can promise that you’ll be burning around all 17 official MotoGP tracks "very soon".

The Doctor, aka Valentino Rossi, will also be delighted to read that he can race to glory as himself or indeed any one of his 17 current MotoGP challengers in I-play’s rather tidy-looking sim.

Keep checking Pocket Gamer's pit-lane for more info.
