The new Mortal Kombat game is out this month. But the free to play mobile version has snuck out a week early and is available now on the iOS App Store.

Once again, this is a brutal brawler where characters beat each other up until one can pull off a fatality - a gory, blood-soaked finishing move where someone usually lose their head, a few limbs, and a handful of organs.

The control scheme is exactly like the one in previous NetherRealm fighters Injustice and WWE Immortals, with simple taps and swipes to pull off moves.

The game has fighters from classic Mortal Kombat games like Scorpion, Johnny Cage, and Sub-Zero, plus the new additions to the roster like D’Vorah, Cassie Cage, and Kung Jin. All are represented as trading cards you can unlock or buy.

This one's also got new social features like a Faction War where multiple players fight for the glory of their clan. And allies, where you can borrow a high level 'kombatant' (really?) from a friend to help you out.

Plus, if you play this game you'll unlock rewards in next week's console and PC version of Mortal Kombat X such as ultra rare characters like Klassic Kitana and Injustice Scorpion.

You can get the game now on iOS, provided you've got about a gigabyte of free space, any device with at least 1GB of RAM, and a stomach of steel. This gruesome fighter is coming to Android soon.
