GDC 2016: The Big Indie Pitch’s Rising Stars - Delta Duck Studios

The Big Indie Pitch is designed specifically for upcoming developers to showcase their latest games, gain some media exposure, and talk to prospective publishers and investors.

It’s a also good chance to get a flavour of global trends, and at GDC 2016 BIP, there was a strong South East Asian contingent in force.

One of those developers demanding of a closer look is Delta Duck Studios, and their brand new game Monster Chronicles.

Delta Duck Studios is one of the mobile scene's newest development studios, having only been founded in 2014 and at this year's GDC 2016 Big Indie Pitch they showed off the latest fruits of their labour, Monster Chronicles.

The first thing you notice from a first look at Monster Chronicles, is the sheer strength of the game's artwork.

Each of the game’s 70 uniquely created monsters not only look incredible with high amounts of polish, but they’re also distinct in terms of the gameplay too.

Delta Duck Studios have added their own style into a well established genres, by way of a unique tic-tac-toe battle system, which allows the experience to remain fresh and new to the player.

Whilst introducing new gameplay mechanics, Monster Chronicles also feels comfortable, thanks to well established gameplay mechanics from genres such as strategy, puzzle and RPG.

All in all, Delta Duck Studios’ Monster Chronicles has the distinct feeling of merging popular Japanese game mechanics with some fresh ideas and is a game we'll definitely be keeping an eye on.

Delta Duck Studios was invited to the Big Indie Pitch on behalf of one of the event’s sponsors, Singaporean Game Box
