Monster Castle is a brand new type of mobile tower defence which launched on iOS and Android on December 3rd, 2015.

It challenges you to build a mighty castle and equip it with deadly weapons like crossbows, spike pits, and cannons to defend it from the evil knight Sam and his nasty human army.

You can recruit an army of fearsome orcs, goblins, witches, and other monsters to help fight him off, all of which be equipped with new weapons and items to increase their power.

As well as a lengthy single player campaign, there's also a fun multiplayer mode which lets you take the fight to an enemy player's castle. If you manage to destroy it completely, you'll earn bonus rewards.

We reached out to the product team at Joycity to find out what sets Monster Castle apart from other tower defence games, what challenges were faced during development, and the plans for future updates.

What do you think Monster Castle offers that you can’t get from any other title on the App Store?

"We wanted to give players a unique experience so that's why we blended strategy, development, and tower defence into Monster Castle.

"Also, we think the art style does a good job of appealing to players from all around the world and that's important to us as we want to make a truly global game.

"Players have given positive feedback about both the gameplay and art style, so we're pleased that we've met our design goals.

"Down the line, we will continue to improve Monster Castle based on the feedback we get from players."

What challenges did you face during development, and how did you overcome them?

"The biggest difficulty we faced was figuring out how to make a game that would be well liked worldwide and we were unsure at first how to achieve this.

"Our team began researching cultures around the world, as well as play and study games that have done well globally.

"We gradually found our groove and laid down the tracks for Monster Castle’s style, which we describe as light, strategic, and with an emphasis on development."

Which part of Monster Castle are you personally the most proud of and why?

"Our team’s proudest moment was seeing the game embraced by so many players after launch. The warm comments and positive reviews really inspired us.

"We also got featured globally on both the App Store and Google Play. The recognition and support of from both players and major companies has made us really happy."

Do you have anything planned in terms of future updates for Monster Castle and, if so, can you give us any details of what these might include?

"We definitely have plans for the future. Right now we're just focused on ensuring the game is as enjoyable as possible for all of our players.

"Our future goal is to localise Monster Castle for all regions."

Have you any plans to bring Monster Castle to any other mobile platforms?

"Monster Castle is already available on the two largest mobile platforms, iOS and Android. We have no plans to launch on any other mobile platforms at this time."
