Multiplayer update coming to Modern Combat: Sandstorm on iPhone
Shoot first, check push notifications later
Just because the French gaming giant has a new shooter on the way doesn't mean it's forgetting about the last one. Over on its Twitter page, Gameloft it has just revealed that Modern Combat: Sandstorm has a major update in development that will deliver multiplayer gaming to the modern warfare simulator.
No details on how far this multiplayer mode will go (wi-fi, Bluetooth, voice chat, push notifications, etc), but it seems like a coincidence that the Halo-esque N.O.V.A. promised these features on the eve of Sandstorm's multiplayer announcement.
Presumably what we're seeing here is the iPhone version of Gameloft's Live service finding its way into the bigger, more hardcore titles - a proprietary platform designed to bring social and connected features to the developer's mobile catalogue.
Whatever clever code is at work behind the scenes, no FPS is complete without a proper multiplayer mode, so keep an eye on Pocket Gamer for more info on the Modern Combat: Sandstorm update as we get it.
