Linking into MySpace, where over 13 million players are doing nefarious deals on behalf of their Godfathers, Playdom has announced Mobsters: Big Apple is now live on the App Store.

It's described as an extension of the #1 MySpace game, so you can continue your existing mob experience by logging in via iPhone or iPod touch - switching back and forth as you like - or start playing from scratch.

Exclusive content is available for the mobile version including new items and missions involving a mysterious Mr X. The game launches with 65 missions and updates will be added weekly.

Indeed, publisher Playdom reckons there's at least a year's worth of content available for newbies to get stuck into, and it has done some work to speed up the process as Mobsters: Big Apple allows you to build your mob by running missions for hired guns, as opposed to relying exclusively on friend invites as on MySpace.

To open up the game with an existing MySpace account, you have to complete the Steal An iPhone mission, then download the app and enter the secret code. Alternatively you can just download the app and choose the iPhone-only option to start from scratch.

Either way, you get 20 free favour points, worth $5, when you buy the app.

Mobsters: Big Apple is out now priced 99c or 59p. Hit the Buy It! button to go straight to the horse's head App Store.
