Double Fine turns Middle Manager of Justice's early release into an impromptu beta test

We were pretty excited about Middle Manager of Justice when it was first announced.

The game represented Double Fine's first foray into the world of mobile gaming, and it looked to infuse some much-needed quirk and humour into the genre of management games.

We were also pretty excited when Middle Manager of Justice came to the App Store on September 4th without pomp or fanfare.

But there was a reason for the quiet release: the game was not done, it was full of bugs, and it was a public relations nightmare for Double Fine Productions.

At least, it would have been if the company didn't reach out to its fanbase for help.

Would you mind playtesting for us?

After Middle Manager of Justice's premature release, Double Fine went into damage control mode and reached out to their fans on a number of popular message boards asking them to become de facto beta testers of the game.

The fans responded positively and helped the game's project lead, Kee Chi, identify numerous bugs and find ways to make the freemium elements less restrictive for non-paying players.

A finished version of Middle Manage of Justice – which incorporates early player feedback – will land on the App Store in the weeks ahead.
