Micro Battles is a game of, as you might be able to tell from the title, micro battles. It offers a decent chunk of same-device multiplayer and it's got a pretty interesting free to play system as well.

If you don't pay you get to play one of the four different mini-games every day. Cough up £1.49 / $1.99 and you'll be able to play them all whenever you want.

Each of the games is a one-vs-one single button battle. There's a football game where you both have a single player who's constantly spinning around.

Tap your button and the footballer sprints out in the direction he's facing. First to somehow manage to bundle five goals into their opponent's goal wins.

Then there's a cowboy duelling game. You've each got a single bullet, tap to fire. There are cacti that your shots bounce off, barrels that slow them down, and rocks that split them into two bullets between you though.

If you fire and miss your button lets you change the direction you're scrolling up and down the screen. First to five kills wins.

You also get a dog-fighting game and am axe-throwing one. They're all pretty fun, but if you don't have any friends it's definitely a game to give a miss. Also, sorry you don't have any friends.

You can check out the game from the App Store [download] and the Google Play Store [download] for free right now, and if you're a fan of same-device multiplayer I reckon it's worth a gander.
