Mario on iPhone: MarioTD tower defence game appears on App Store

Remarkable. The logic and consistency of Apple's approval process has come under scrutiny several times in its short life, but this one really stands out.

At the time of writing (but probably not for very long thereafter) there's a game on the App Store called MarioTD. The 'TD' stands for 'tower defence', and the 'Mario' stands for Nintendo's key intellectual property.

Released on the 30th of December and made by Liao Xi Zhou, MarioTD is a rather shoddy looking effort that pilfers unashamedly from the Mario universe. Just look at the screenshot.

Being a low budget offering from an independent developer whose first language isn't English, the game's App Store description is probably at least as amusing as the game itself, and so I'll immortalise excerpts of it here so that you can enjoy it long after the game inevitably vanishes.

“There are more than 40 creeps will take turn to attack the princess and they will became more and more powerful.”

“This is a war between justice and evil.”

“The whole game process is full of excitation and challenge!”

“Some can fly, some can bore in group, some can renew blood, some have high HP and some can splite.”

“[Y]ou must make your effort and use your justice and brightness to protect the princess!”
