Explore the world and characters through your pocket
The importance of the iPhone is growing in every respect. You might remember the days when it first became prerequisite for a game, company, or product to have some kind of web presence, and now it's getting to the point that some kind of iPhone application isn't just a benefit - it's expected.
The Korean developer of the hit Xbox 360 RPG game Magna Carta 2 is apparently taking full advantage of Apple's device by using a free iPhone "title guide" to deliver what would normally be in the game's booklet.
This guide to the game world and characters contains detailed profiles on the 14 main characters in Magna Carts 2, including concept art, screenshots, and wallpapers for the iPhone itself.
It's not so much that Softmax has a promotional app for Magna Carta 2 that captures my interest as much as the way that app is being used.
It's been designed as a useful and integral part of the Xbox 360 game's experience, and suggests that before long, access to the App Store will be a requirement for getting the most out of any game - regardless of its platform.
