Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 coming to iPhone and iPad this holiday season

During an exclusive E3 gameplay video of the console version of Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7, Traveller's Tales game director Arthur Parsons confirmed an iOS version is also in the works.

The game will, of course, allow you to guide the speccy wizard and a whole host of other characters through the last three books and the last four films in the Harry Potter franchise.

Although there's no specific information about the iOS port, the video does detail some of the new mechanics that will be present in the console experience when it's released.

Geeky Hermione, for example, will carry a new bag from which she can pull important items such as giant hairdryers to melt snow.

The Diffindo spell is also set to make an appearance, allowing you to zap special walls, trace an outline of a shape, and then build it from the Lego pieces that fall out.

New invisible Lego pieces which requires special goggles to see, and Weasley joke boxes, are also planned.

It remains to be seen which - if any - of the new features make it into the iOS version of the game, but the new Diffindo mechanic seems suited to Apple's touchscreen.

We'll keep you updated with any new news as we get it.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is due out this holiday season for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, 3DS, DS, Mac, PC, and iOS.
