Tin Man Games's first Warhammer 40,000 gamebook arrived on iOS today

Tin Man Games, makers of typically stellar gamebooks, has launched the first in its trilogy of Warhammer 40,000 adventures on iOS today.

It should be coming to Android as well but there's no sign of it yet.

Called Legacy of Dorn: Herald of Oblivion, it's a digital adaptation of the Warhammer 40,000 Path To Victory gamebook of the same name.

This means you'll be playing as a veteran Space Marine in Terminator armour carrying the Emperor's deadliest weapons.

You're the remaining survivor of your squad after being attacked by aliens and heretics on the space hulk Herald of Oblivion.

You need to make navigational choices as you try to find your way out. But you'll also need to engage in combat.

Keep back

Distance matters in battles. Either you can hang back and shoot from afar or get up close and deliver big hits at the risk of taking damage yourself.

So, yeah, this is a first-person dungeon crawler. Your phone or tablet is turned into an Imperial Cogitator and it shows you holograms of the Orks, Tyranids, Dark Eldar, and Necrons you're fighting.

That should get you immersed in the action where other gamebooks might not.

Legacy of Dorn: Herald of Oblivion is available for £4.49 / $5.99 on the App Store.

The other two parts of the trilogy, Pits of Commorragh and Forge of War, are due in 2016.
