Leg·end·ar·y is a puzzle game about numbers. It looks sharp, with an intriguing design that sets it apart from pretty much everything else on the App Store.

Its puzzles are simple to grasp but become increasingly complex as you move through the game. All you're doing is adding things together, but there's only one solution,

Essentially you're joining together strings of numbers, but they're represented by pixel-art knights, dwarves, and peasants.

Knights of the times table

After the first few levels things start to get a little tougher. You need to connect all of the numbers into a set number of strings to clear a level, and you can only make connections horizontally or vertically.

You'll need to use some numbers more than once, and deal with minus integers and other mathematical aberrations as well. It makes for an interesting challenge, especially later in the game.

Everything is distinctly linear. There's a path of levels to follow, and each of them only has one solution. It can make for some frustration if you're stuck and can't see a way through the problem.

But when the game is firing on all cylinders it makes for a fresh and engaging puzzler. The unique look of the game manages to keep things interesting for the most part, and there's a hefty chunk of levels to lose yourself in as well.

Plus or minus

Leg·end·ar·y is a tough ask, and if you're not a fan of maths then it's unlikely that you'll enjoy it.

However, if you're looking for a new puzzling experience that mixes together a bunch of ideas, and adds in a swirl of originality, then there's a lot to like here.

It might not be quite as fresh as its impressive visuals suggest, but there's enough here to make Leg·end·ar·y as easy recommendation for puzzle game fans.

Leg·end·ar·y isn't the most remarkable game out there, but it is a lot of fun
