"Laser is a brand new arcade hopper with a twist," reads the blurb for LASER! - Endless Laser Dodging Action.
That statement is two-thirds accurate. It is indeed an arcade hopper, and it is brand new. But we're struggling to spot the twist.
It's the exact same kind of endless tap-to-hop thing we've been seeing ever since the release of Flappy Bird - and, let's admit it, for a good spell before that too.
It plays perfectly fine, for the record. You time your hops past laser-spewing turrets. The ground falls away behind you, though that's a cosmetic effect rather than any sort of urgent gameplay mechanic.
Even LASER!'s art style is derivative, a post-Monument Valley minimalistic isometric landscape.
LASER! does what it does just fine. But if you come to it expecting that "twist," you'll be disappointed.
