Konami's new Mario Kart-style iPhone racer Krazy Kart Racing has us pretty excited after Pocket Gamer got to test out its cartoony multiplayer antics during GamesCom.
The game was due for release on the 19th August, but the days are ticking by and it's still not appeared. As Pocket Gamer reader Klouud remarked in the review comments yesterday, "Aug 20, 2009 - still not on US App Store."
The problem isn't only affecting the US: there's no sign of in here in the UK, either.
"We are waiting for the game to go live on the Appstore as well but the necessary greenlight from Apple is missing, "Konami tells us. "There's nothing we can do but wait at this point, just like any other developer."
Apple has previously stated that most applications make it through the submissions system within two weeks, which Konami was presumably counting down in order to make Krazy Kart Racing coincide with GamesCom.
In some small way it could be seen as reassuring for the wealth of iPhone indie developers to know that even the major players are at Apple's mercy, but it's also another clear sign that the App Store approvals system needs a serious overhaul.
Hmmm... TouchArcade.com reported on a FPS called "Nexx" that had been submitted to the approval monkeys... I mean f-tards... I mean approval process. Whew... good save tim.
But we haven't seen the game yet! Either I read the article incorrectly, or Apple likes to use scare tactics in its approval process.
I thought with the integration of a parental control system on the iDevices, that Apps would have a much easier time getting through. Guess I was wrong.

Apple approval process has gone from bad to worst since the 3.0 update and the funny thing is its supposed to make it better. apple should start treating devs and their consumers with respect... pls let me decide what is to be censored, that's why we have parental control right? a BIG PART of the success of the i-devices lies in its gaming market ( small download, accessibility of the appstore, cheap pricing) but if PSPgo played it's cards right people will start noticing that apps being rejected or delayed due to a piss poor approval process are being released as PSPminis. I myself am pretty tired of apple's approval process and as much as i love my iphone i'm looking to purchase a pspgo and get my app fix from there.
^ Regardless of how Apple treats us... the PSP Go! is going to flop...
---Still haven't seen this game on the App Store yet. Anyone else know anything about it?

Yeah, we konami insider has been complaining about apple contact hess. He provides little help and discourages discounting of pricing. I hear that he treats publishers unfairly.

Hey Nihonburro,
I am Head of Konami's digital download business in Europe (PG is able to confirm my ID via SMS/call if necessary) . I don't know where your "insider knowledge" comes from, but I want to point out that our apple contacts have been extremely supportive and cooperative over the past year (and those who know me will confirm I am normally not easy to please). I would appreciate if you could state your own opinion but refrain from using us as reference. Thanks
