Krazy Kart Racing held up in the App Store approval process

Konami's new Mario Kart-style iPhone racer Krazy Kart Racing has us pretty excited after Pocket Gamer got to test out its cartoony multiplayer antics during GamesCom.

The game was due for release on the 19th August, but the days are ticking by and it's still not appeared. As Pocket Gamer reader Klouud remarked in the review comments yesterday, "Aug 20, 2009 - still not on US App Store."

The problem isn't only affecting the US: there's no sign of in here in the UK, either.

"We are waiting for the game to go live on the Appstore as well but the necessary greenlight from Apple is missing, "Konami tells us. "There’s nothing we can do but wait at this point, just like any other developer."

Apple has previously stated that most applications make it through the submissions system within two weeks, which Konami was presumably counting down in order to make Krazy Kart Racing coincide with GamesCom.

In some small way it could be seen as reassuring for the wealth of iPhone indie developers to know that even the major players are at Apple's mercy, but it's also another clear sign that the App Store approvals system needs a serious overhaul.

In the mean time, why not check out our full review of Krazy Kart Racing.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
