Intense party game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes comes to iOS and Android

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, one of the best virtual reality games I’ve ever played, is set to make its grand debut on iOS and Android on August 1st. It’s an intense co-op party game where one player is tasked with defusing a bomb while the others attempt to talk them through the process using manuals (either digital or printed) that only they can see.

It’s basically trying to replicate that cliché movie scene where someone who’s never disarmed a bomb before has it all explained to them over the phone by an expert. The only difference here is that the folk on the other end of the phone aren’t experts, they’re your daft friends.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes originally launched back in 2015 for Samsung Gear VR, though the eventual Switch port proved that it could work just as well on a non-VR platform.

The bomb itself is randomly generated at the start of every round, meaning you can’t just memorise the layouts/solutions. It’s a lot like Spaceteam where everyone is trying to explain some fairly complicated issues to one another at the same time. It can get extremely hectic as the team attempts to work out which wire to cut or what the correct input code might be.

From my time spent playing, I can tell you that it’s one of the more intense party games around. You can expect a lot of shouting and failed attempts before everyone eventually gets the hang of it and you become a crack team of bomb disposal experts.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes will be available for download from both the App Store and Google Play on August 1st, though you also have the option to pre-order ahead of launch. It’s currently priced at £9.99, which definitely puts it at the higher end of standard premium app pricing. Regardless, it’s one of the best party games around, so be sure to check it out.
