Richard Perrin's award-winning PC puzzler Kairo is now available on iPhone and iPad.

In this minimalist, bare bones blocky game, you'll set off on a isolated exploration of abandoned monuments and ancient machinery.

There are cryptic puzzles to solve, of course. They mostly involve plodding around these little 3D worlds and stepping on pressure plates or shoving blocks.

Perrin compares it to Myst and Ico. We reckon there's a fair amount of Fez and Tomb Raider in there, too.

So, if a captivating but completely oblique romp around ancient architecture sounds like your cup of tea, you should download Kairo onto your iOS device now.

The game will set you back £2.99 / $4.99. Yes, that's right: it costs money. Real money. You can read about Perrin's decision to buck the free-to-play trend on his blog.

The indie game creator says an Android version is "coming soon", by the way.
