In Churning Seas comes across as being an awareness campaign for global warming. It's possible that it is.

The challenge in this tower building game is to escape the rising sea level by placing ice blocks on top of one another.

You have to try to be quick while also taking the time to balance the blocks carefully. If you aren't then your tower won't get very high and will topple.

It's similar to 99 Bricks - Wizard Academy, then, except with a different theme. Although it's not explicitly stated about global warming and the melting of the ice caps, it's implied to be about that.

Anyway, if you watch the trailer below it seems that you occasionally get special blocks that turn the others around them into darker rocks that float in the air.

There's no sign of any other powers that have different effects but it seems likely that there will be some more.

You may also notice that, in the video, it appears that there are levels that have you dealing with certain shapes of blocks (rather than a random assortment).

And you can also see that the weather and time of day changes too.
