8 tips and tricks for iOS and Android hit Hungry Shark World

Hungry Shark World is all about being the biggest fish in whichever pond you find yourself in. You do that by eating everything that moves.

Getting to grips with the controls is pretty easy. You control your shark with a joystick, then tap the screen to unleash your deadly boost skill.

But what if you want to take your sea-based-slaughter to the next level? Well fret ye not, because we've got a bunch of intermediate tips here that should see you getting fat on a glut of fish corpses.

If you've got your own suggestions to add, feel free to chuck them into the comments section below. After all, er, joke about fishes and schools.

Go for the shoal

This one's pretty easy. When you're munching on fish, try and make sure you stuff the whole shoal into your big fat gob. You'll get a bonus for doing it, earning you more points than if you swim off and leave a few stragglers.

Know your foes

If you hit something and the game tells you you're not big enough to eat it, try and remember that. There's no point smashing into jellyfish or sharks you can't get in your gob, because you'll just end up losing a lot of health.

Eat gold

When you see anything below you in the food chain that's a golden hue, do your best to cram it in your mouth. You'll get a bonus, and your Gold Rush boost will increase. These are two things you want to happen.

Look out for gems

Some fish will glow purple. These fish have gems. Gems are good. They're nippy little buggers, so if you don't have a full boost when you see one there's not much point trying to go after them. If you do though, it's well worth it.

Don't forget the crabs

Crabs crawl over most of the surfaces in the game. They're a decent meal, especially when you're moving between chunks of a location, so try and hoover up as many of them as you can when you see them.

Buy a map

Spending gold on the map for the area you're in is the best way to find all of the letters in the word HUNGRY that you can collect. Hit the pause menu and they'll be highlighted in the map section of the menu.

Go for upgrades

The cheapest way to make your shark stronger is to upgrade its three different stats. These should be the first things you spend cash on. When they're full, you can splash out on bits of equipment with more specific attributes.

Check the challenges

Finishing the challenges is the best way to quickly get coins. You can check what they are before you start, or from the pause menu in the game. If you've complete all the three you've got and you die, don't bother reviving - head back to the menu to get your reward and a new set of tasks.
