There are a lot of card-based duelling games available on mobile. I'm not too fond of them, to be honest. I think I'm just getting tired of them.

Upon seeing the turn-based duelling in High Moon, though, I realise that my main gripes with current card-based duellers may be with their presentation and interfaces.

I certainly don't seem to have an issue with the concept of virtual duels. And High Moon has piqued my interest in that regard after seeing its debut gameplay trailer.

Ele-mental

In High Moon, you will play an Elementalist who can summon apprentices to fight for him in "The Forgotten West".

The game comes to life through pleasant pixel-art, exuberant animations, the witty banter between duellists, and the veritable cornucopia of characters (including cowboys, vampires, monsters, wizards, and aliens.)

Each of your apprentices will be able to perform spells at your command, and will be able to launch them at her foe. Each character will have different strengths and weaknesses, so victory may depend on your character choice AND your spell casting.

High Moon will feature a hotseat multiplayer mode so you can duel against friends on the same device. You will also be able to battle against the AI. On top of all that, you will be able to take part in some three-star challenges.

If you're up for a bit of card-based duelling without the cards, keep an eye on High Moon. It should be out in Q1 2014 for iPad, iPhone, and Android.
