Hearthstone gets a Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion this August

If you're a bit of a fan of Warcraft you'll want to keep an eye out for this expansion as Knights of the Frozen Throne comes to Hearthstone this summer.

Take up arms as Azeroth's greatest heroes and head to battle the Lich King in Northrend's tavern. Be raised as Death Knights, wield otherworldly powers, steal life from your opponents, and ascend the Icecrown Citadel to claim the Frozen Throne.

Nine legendary Hero Cards are awarded to those who gain the Lich King's favour. When played these transform Hearthstone's heroes into Death Knights, granting them frost-rimed armour and powers. There's also a new power called 'Lifesteal' which heals players for the amount of damage dealt.

All in all there're 135 new cards on the way (see five of them below). If you're not keen on serving at the Lich King's feet, you can challenge him directly in a series of free missions. Once you've completed the prologue mission, you'll receive a random legendary Death Knight Hero Card.

Knights of the Frozen Throne card packs will be winnable in the Arena Mode and purchasable with in-game or real money at the same price as other Hearthstone card packs. Or, if you're eager, you can pre-purchase the new packs in a special 50-pack bundle on iOS, Android, or PC for $49.99. Those who choose this option will be granted a unique themed card pack from the Lord of the Scourge.
