iPhone 7 cases: best ways to protect your iPhone
Product: Hardware Group Test | Publisher: Steel Media Ltd | Format: iPhone
Updated 3rd June: We've added some new cases to keep your iPhone 7 safe into the summer.

The iPhone 7 has been a massive sales success since it launched more than a year ago, and while the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are now on the market, we'll have to wait a while until they're in as many hands as last year's model.

Apple continues to offer the iPhone 7 as new, so it makes sense to round-up of some of the best cases around for it. Needless to say, there's a thriving third-party case ecosystem for the phone.

It's also worth noting that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 have very similar measurements, so cases for one will tend to fit the other.

We haven't directly featured any iPhone 7 Plus examples, because the general rule is that case manufacturers make the same case for both sizes - so treat these as recommendations for both models.

Dockem Sleeve

Here's the thing with cases - they invariably compromise the design and feel of your smartphone. This sleeve offers a low-tech but surprisingly effective solution, protecting your phone in transit while giving you the full naked phone experience.

JimmyCASE wallet

Here's a handsome, premium iPhone 7 case that stands out from the crowd. The JimmyCASE wallet incorporates a genuine mahogany back, a sturdy plastic bumper, and a stretchy elastic pocket.

Mujjo Full Leather Wallet

Mujjo's Full Leather Wallet is essentially a cheaper alternative to Apple's leather case, with the added bonus of an external wallet compartment for your cards.

Case-Mate Tough

With its reinforced corners and shock protection for drops of up to 10 feet, the Case-Mate Tough offers a lot for its money. It also has a metal kickstand that's oriented for portrait view support, which is unusual.

Silk Base Grip case

Silk makes some of the best plain and simple iPhone cases in the business, without excessive adornment or gimmicks. This is a simple one-piece TPU case that fits nice and tightly, and keeps your £700 phone safe without hurting your eyes or your wallet. What more do you want?

Speck Presidio Grip

A case that's thin and goes big on protection? That's the ambitious idea with the Presidio Grip, which will keep your iPhone 7 safe from drops of up to 10 feet, but doesn't look like a breeze block. Oh, and as the name suggests, it makes your iPhone very grippy too.

Mophie Juice Pack Air

Like the idea of Apple's Smart Battery Case, but don't like that funny bump on the back? This Mophie case provides a bump-free alternative, whilst boosting your iPhone 7's battery life to a total of 27 hours. It also supports wireless charging, which Apple's solution doesn't.

Suggested price: £57

GEAR4 Carnaby

iPhone cases can be a little humdrum and predictable in their design. It's nice when something a bit different appears, like the GEAR4 Carnaby. You get a smart holey design that lets some of Apple's own design magic shine through. Despite this, the case still provides protection against falls of up to 3 metres in height.

Incipio Esquire

Tired of the usual plastic and leather options for your phone case? The Incipio Esquire offers an attractive alternative - the kind of stylish cloth you might associate more with a jacket or jumper.

Olixar X-Duo

If you're the sort of person who digs that cutting edge racing car aesthetic, the Olixar X-Duo will doubtless rev your engine. It's got a distinctive carbon fibre-style design and an admirable lack of garish logos. Beyond that, it just keeps your iPhone 7 nice and snug and safe.

Apple Leather case

It should come as no surprise to learn that Apple's own iPhone 7 case is the most handsome and snug-fitting out there - nor that it's the most expensive. Still, if you must accessorise your accessories, this is the one.

Apple Smart Battery Case

Want your case to give your iPhone a little more juice? Apple's Smart Battery Case boosts talk time by up to 12 hours - with only a slightly unsightly bulge to show for it.

Silk Vault

Silk really shows Apple how case bulges needn't be unsightly with the Silk Vault - a moulded, angular delight of a thing. The extra space is here put to uses storing up to three of your bank cards, which is handy.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid

Spigen is another of the top case makers out there, and the Ultra Hybrid combines subtle semi-transparent looks with a reassuring air-cushioned bymber that will absorb most droppages.
