Grindstone is a battle puzzler from Capybara Games that's available on Apple Arcade

Grindstone is a puzzle-battler game from Capybara Games that will see you attempt to clear a mountain that's been overrun by creeps. It'll be available as soon as Apple Arcade arrives today, or now if you're in the iOS 13 beta.

On the surface, Grindstone looks like a fairly simple colour-matching puzzle game. There are various beasties on-screen of varying, distinctive colours and you'd assume that it's just a case of matching them together to rid the world of them.

But the developers say that it'll have much deeper strategy than it first appears and warns players not to think it'll be a smooth ride based on the quirky, colourful art style. You'll find yourself in turn-based puzzle battles against Creeps as well as bosses. One of which – a big plant-like fella - can be seen in the trailer below.

As you cut folks down on your journey towards the peak of Grindstone mountain you'll also find loot and blueprints for gear. This can help turn the tides of battle. One example of additional gear you can find is a poison arrow which will inflict 1HP of damage to enemies for 3 turns. Incorporating this into your build may allow you to stall out a win rather than putting yourself in harm's way.

The game will launch with 150 levels. Normally with this type of game, you'd assume that it would be free-to-play and full of ads after every level or so. Fortunately, as Grindstone is an Apple Arcade title you don't have to worry about that, which is nice.

Grindstone is available now on Apple Arcade. Once you've managed to download iOS 13 you'll be able to get a 1-month free trial of Apple Arcade so you could try out Grindstone for free. If you want to see what else is available on the service then we've made a list for you to peruse.
