Mere days before launch, Google Stadia rushes to add 10 new games to its lineup

Now mere days before launch, Google Stadia has added 10 more games to its initial lineup. The announcement comes after criticism of a recent Stadia Q&A, as well as the news that the tech behemoth's gaming steaming service will launch without a number of promised features.

The updated launch lineup includes several games that were originally slated to launch on Stadia in 2020. Instead of the original 12, the service will now launch with 22 titles. By comparison, Microsoft's still-in-beta xCloud service has 50 games available to play.

Here's the updated list:

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Attack on Titan: Final Battle 2
  • Destiny 2: The Collection
  • Farming Simulator 2019
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Football Manager 2020
  • Grid 2019
  • Gylt
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Kine
  • Metro Exodus
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • NBA 2K20
  • Rage 2
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • Thumper
  • Tomb Raider 2013
  • Trials Rising
  • Wolfenstein: Youngblood

With only one exclusive at launch, Tequila Works' Glylt, Stadia has very little to offer anyone besides those keen to hop on the streaming train asap. Its games are, at this point, fairly old, and digital prices are always ludicrous compared to what you'd pay to buy these games physically in the UK.

Those who opt to subscribe to Stadia Pro, the service's optional $10-a-month tier, will now get Samurai Showdown in addition to Destiny 2 as the "free" games for the first month. Pro subs will also be able to play in 4K, provided you have the requisite internet speed.

Sure, it'll be nice to eventually play Doom Eternal on any Chrome-enabled device, but I'm not convinced this is something anyone should get involved in at launch. Maybe wait until the free 1080p version pops up early next year. If you actually want to check this thing out, here's a link to pre-order the Founder's Edition.
