Ghost Recon 3DS designer: Ubisoft is turning Shadow Wars iOS into a free to play game

Whatever happened to the iPhone and iPad version of Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars? Ubisoft announced the iOS port over a year ago, and we haven't heard a peep since.

Well, according to the lead designer of the original 3DS game, Ubisoft has been trying to redesign the game as a free-to-play title, packed with in-app purchases.

Julian Gollop - best known as director of the original X-COM game (UFO: Enemy Unknown) - told a curious tweeter, "last I heard they were trying to transform it into F2P with IAP."

It's something he described as "very silly". He adds that "[Ubisoft] may have given up entirely."
