[Update] The GTA-like Gangstar: New Orleans hits out on iOS and Android
Updated March 30th, 1:30 PM: Yes, the game is finally out, though, technically speaking, Gangstar: New Orleans released a little bit early as it slipped out overnight.

It's time to play as you please, roam the city without direct goals, and maybe create a little bit of havoc while you're at it. Starting off on the level of a chocolate bar stealer, it's your ultimate target to reach the baddest of the bad and claim the Big Easy as your own personal playground.

Grab Gangstar: New Orleans free-to-play on the App Store or Google Play now.

It's been a while, but Gameloft's finally announced that Gangstar: New Orleans is releasing worldwide next week, on iOS and Android.

Gangstar: New Orleans is an open world, GTA-like game set in New Orleans. Through biker gangs, heists, crooked cops, and voodoo priests, your only goal is to claim to Big Easy as top dog, by any means necessary.

Originally teased last year alongside a couple of other titles, the news received a mixed reception from gamers. Not long afterwards it soft-launched in the Philippines, followed by Canada, and so far things have been surprisingly positive.

Despite an initial wave of negative opinions, the overall rating on the App Store is pretty good, sitting at around four-and-a-half stars for each page, or three-and-a-half overall. Comments range from praising the game to damning its expensive IAPs, but that's to be expected.

Gangstar: New Orleans will be coming to iOS and Android next Thursday, March 30th, free-to-play.
