Make your own iPhone games with GameSalad

Over on our sister site PocketGamer.biz, Stu's been looking at the news from Gendai Games about its new drag 'n' drop game creator for the Mac. Currently open for applications for the system's closed alpha test, the system promises to make game creation exceptionally simple even for the uninitiated.

While much of it seems to be focused on creating embeddable blog and Facebook applications, GameSalad Creator also promises iPhone specific features for building games to run on Apple's handset; including easy access to the accelerometer, multi-touch capable screen input and hardware driven graphics.

Beginning in 2D, Gendai hopes to take its new system 3D very shortly. Given the news that Trism creator Steve Detemer has made around US$250,000 from his iPhone game, this is exciting news indeed for any would-be game designers.

Hit the 'Track It!' button to stay informed, and head on over to PG.biz to see a video of GameSalad in action.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
