GDC 2018 Diary Day One: Getting hit in the face by a pigeon

Dear diary,

Today was my first full day in the US! I'm in San Francisco to attend GDC, which doesn't really start until Wednesday, but I'm here a few days earlier because of reasons.

The time here is not what it is at home, which has been very confusing! I woke up at 2am, but thought it was 9am and started to get ready for the day! I am very silly.

San Francisco is very big and scary! It has lots of very steep roads and all the drivers beep their horns at each other constantly and my feet and legs are killing me from trekking around just trying to get to my hotel.

I have made lots of nice new friends, like the old Japanese man who drove me to the hotel and told me about how he much he hates Trump. Someone also helpfully shouted "watch out, white boy!" when a pigeon flew into my face!

So far, things have been a bit quiet on the games front. I did get to see the announcement of Dragon Ball Legends, and a lady in a kimono in Tokyo got absolutely wrecked by a guy on stage, which was kind of hilarious. The game looks pretty cool too! Hopefully I'll get to play it soon.

There hasn't been much in the way of mobile yet though. Super Meat Boy Forever is available on an Xbox downstairs, but any console that isn't a Switch is the devil's work, so I haven't played it.

I've heard that most games at the minute are being shown on PC, the worst way to play a game, so hopefully there'll be more things on mobile to see later in the week.

Tomorrow I will be playing Bandai Namco games all day, which is sure to be lots of fun! Until then I'm going to the Pocket Gamer party. I hope there will be balloons and jelly. And maybe a clown! Maybe the clown will make balloon animals!

Have a good night diary!

Love from,
Ric
