Metal Gear Solid, World Ends With You, Final Fantasy and Lineage coming to GREE platform

But all hitting Japan first

Japanese social gaming platform company GREE has been expanding aggressively into Europe and North America during 2012.

Its main cash generation still occurs in Japan, however, and still the place that gets its most interesting games (on iOS and Android) first.

For example, its recent financial report reveals the company has released versions of hardcore RPGs Bleach and Naruto but only in Japan.

That makes some sense as those are strong domestic licences, although games based on the franchises have been launched in the west.

Big fish

GREE's also working with Korean publisher NCsoft over a version of its massively successful MMOG Lineage.

Called Lineage: Eternal Life, we're hoping the English title means it will be released globally, but at present, it's only confirmed for a Japanese release, sometime in 2013.

As for big games that GREE has previously confirmed, it looks like Japan will be ahead of the curve again.

Metal Gear Solid Social Ops (developed by Konami), World Ends With You LIVE Remix (with Square Enix), and Final Fantasy x GREE (again with Square Enix) are due to be released in Japan before the end of 2012.

As yet, there's no news on their release in the west.
