Design ships to Brunel's liking in Full Steam Ahead for iOS and Android

You probably don't fancy yourself much of a ship designer, especially not one of Brunel's standard. But the task in Full Steam Ahead is to please the legendary engineer with your ship constructing skills.

Full Steam Ahead was made by Aardman Animations, who you'll know for Wallace & Gromit, in collaboration with the SS Great Britain and the Science Museum.

It was recently nominated for three TIGA Awards, in Best Game with a Purpose, Best Game Design, and Game of the Year categories.

Full Steam Ahead has a pretty swish design that involves drawing the blueprints of ship hulls, which then spring to life. You'll have fit them with an operable steam engine if you want them to go anywhere, though.

The goal behind each of your ship's designs is dictated by whichever challenge you take on. This might involve keeping the ship steady so the first class passengers can enjoy their dinner, proving that the ship can survive a rough journey, or carrying an excessive amount of cargo.

The more durable and pleasant a ride your ship provides, the more stars you'll be rewarded.

As Full Steam Ahead is free on the App Store [download] and Google Play [download]. It's worth giving this award-nominated game a go.
