Frogger hops onto the iPhone
Konami Digital Entertainment has released an all-new version of Frogger for the iPhone, but only in the US so far.
The game, which went live on the App Store today, has been rejigged with touchscreen and motion-sensing controls, although the core 'why did the frog cross the road?' gameplay remains intact.
Being UK-based, we can't see the game on the App Store yet, so we can't say exactly how those controls will work, or how the game looks. It costs $9.99, though, up there with the more expensive iPhone games.
Still, Konami is pretty chuffed, and VP of Konami Mobile Joe Morris is promising that more retro titles are on the way to Apple's handset.
"We see the iPhone platform as an opportunity to showcase the legendary Konami brands in a truly unique fashion," he says. "We look forward to releasing more of our popular titles for the iPhone soon."
We'll take that as an opportunity to start a good Pro Evolution Soccer for iPhone rumour then.

Unfortunately it's a horrible port of the arcade classic with a visual upgrade. The visual upgrade has no 3D graphics unlike even it's PS1 brother, and plays horribly due to sloppy tilt controls that don't allow you to calibrate the sensitivity.
"Frogger" doesn't even look like he should. The center of the frog is yellow now for no reason at all and looks nothing like the new cartoon-like versions of Frogger that we've seen in recent games, even though that cartoon-version of Frogger is used in the title screen.
When you try to move, you literally have to move the iPhone so much that you can't see the screen, making it easy for a car to come squish you that you weren't able to react to in the second or so that you had no screen to see. And like mentioned before, there is no way to make the tilt controls any more sensitive.
Over all the whole game is very broken for the money. For Konami's venture into the iPhone world, it seems they are only here to make a quick buck, and the luxury of even a semi-long amount of development time is quite obvious to much to ask for from them.
They say more arcade games are coming to the iPhone from their extensive collection. After Frogger on the iPhone, that's a very scary statement. This game was not on the same par as Crash Nitro Kart 3D or Enigmo, and definately isn't as good as Dizzy Bee. So it's not worth even $2.99 then in my eyes, ... definately not worth $9.99.
Avoid like the plague.
