Squids

The Game Bakers's Silver Award-winning RPG is one of my favourite games on the iPhone and iPad. It's colourful, it's challenging, and - most importantly - it's fun.

In it, you take control of a party of stretchy squid, who must navigate underwater arenas and survive turn-based battles against evil shrimps and pesky crabs.

Your squids all boast unique abilities that can be improved through the use of special hats. You can find these handy headpieces throughout your adventures.

At review, we said that "every bite" of Squids is a "delight". What more do you need to know?

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer

Card-based games are generally really good or spectacularly bad. Incinerator Studios's Bronze Award-winning title undeniably falls into the former camp.

It was conceived and designed by three Magic: the Gathering tournament champions, though, so that's hardly surprising.

In Ascension, you have to defeat antagonist the "Fallen One", using a deck of 50 hand-drawn cards, in order to achieve fame and honour.

You can go it alone or play with your buddies in asynchronous multiplayer battles.
