Fortnite cheats and tips - Everything you need to know about season 6
Removed guns, new areas and Shadow Forms
Fortnite season 6 is here! Fanfare! Air horns! Flossing - whatever that is! Yes, it's finally landed, with new areas, new items, just NEW stuff (and some gun removals).
There's so much to dive into and a lot to take in, but we've decided to condense things for you, and deliver the most important updates that have happened in Fortnite season 6.
Take a look below for the essential lowdown on what you need to know, and keep checking back for more Fortnite content.
1
New places to visit
Everyone loves new locations to explore in Fortnite, and season 6's crazy dimensional madness has ended up changing the island dramatically once again.
There's a bunch of new locations, including…
- Floating Island
- Corn Fields
- Haunted Castle
- Corrupted Areas
They're all interesting and ripe for exploring, and of course, Playground Mode is there for you to scope them out before the battle begins.
Oh, and those Corrupted Areas are hiding something new…
2
Shadow Form
You can get an all-new Shadow Form in the game, thanks to a brand new item, the Shadow Stones. Nope, the Marvel crossover is over, this is a Fortnite original.
When you use a Shadow Stone you'll enter your Shadow Form. You'll be invisible to enemies when standing still, and completely unable to use weapons, but you'll be able to speed across the map and jump higher than ever, with less threat of fall damage.
It lasts 45 seconds, so make the most of it, and use the Phase ability to pass through objects and across the map quickly by tapping Alt Fire twice.
3
Encroaching storm
The storm has been switched up ever so slightly, but it ultimately means that your games will probably end up being just as long as they always have. Um, unless you die early.
What's happening is that the time it takes for the storm to start shrinking after you've been the location of the next safe zone has been sped up by ten seconds.
But to counteract this, the time it takes for the storm to shrink from circle to circle has been increased by ten seconds.
That means you can feel more comfortable not having to rush to the next circle, but it doesn't mean things won't catch up to you in the end.
4
Guns gone
Some of the weapons you might like using have been vaulted in season 6, removing them from play. Although you'll no longer be able to wield these weapons in the battle royale, you will still get to use them in Playground mode for now.
So, say sayonara to these weapons…
- Impulse Grenade
- Suppressed Submachine Gun
- Light Machine Gun
- Bouncer
- Remote Explosives
Other weapons are still available, but you might find your favourite gadgets have been changed slightly, including the Grappler, which now only has 10 charges instead of 15. A damage nerf has hit the Double Barrel too, reducing the damage from 143/150 to 114/120.
On top of that, the Dual Pistol will be harder to find, with the floor loot drop chance down from 1.49% to an even lower 0.88%.
