Portable rifts to materialize in Fortnite

Fortnite’s had us all a bit fixated on rifts this summer, what with the game being filled with them at the start of season five just a few weeks ago. Now players will be able to get their hands on portable rifts of their own with the new “Rift-To-Go” item.
The Rift-To-Go appeared in the updates window that pops up when you log into Fortnite. The item’s described as a rift that you “carry in your pocket”. It should certainly have some nifty effects in battle, allowing you to teleport above your present position before gently drifting back down to the ground.

We don’t know when exactly the Rift-To-Go will be available, but some expect it will appear in this week’s update which arrives tomorrow. Epic Games’ community coordinator Sean Hamilton appeared in a Fortnite subreddit thread discussing the latest update, hinting at the new item.

“Are you a player on the go?” Hamilton quipped, “Carry an escape plan in your back pocket with a new item making it's [sic] way to Battle Royale!

Fortnite Patch 5.30 brings with it new challenges, some Pump Shotgun fixes, along with a few other new features when it arrives tomorrow, August 23.
