Fortnite cheats and tips - Best places to drop in Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite is pretty good, ain’t it? After you’ve had your first victory royale all you want is the next one, the next taste of being the best, the next opportunity to get a beautiful crossbow headshot. Believe me, I feel the drive.

One thing that I’m never sure on though is where to start. Fortnite has a big map and plenty of places to drop into, some are drowning in loot, while others are barren. Some are drowning in players, while others are abandoned.

It all depends on what kind of game you want to play, aggressive or chilled. But here are our top picks for where to drop in Fortnite.

Fortnite Prison

A popular starting area that’s actually fairly deserted most of the time on mobile. The prison can be found in map square H8, and isn’t actually listed on the map.

Cells contain weapons, and you can hunt down several gold chests filled with loot hidden away on the prison grounds.

You can easily outmanoeuvre most foes with the prison’s hallways, and if the circle closes in you can easily construct a battlements of sorts on the roof.

Tilted Towers

You will probably already know Tilted Towers. Frankly, it’s not for the faint of heart - dropping here will be intense.

Everyone loves Tilted Towers, and it’s a tough hill to climb to begin with, but if you come out of the skirmish on top, you’ll probably have a good deal of kills, as well as decent equipment, which set you up for the rest of the battle.

Fatal Fields

Fatal Fields is a wide open space, which makes it scary. With very few buildings and not exactly a lot of loot, it can seem like an odd place to want to drop, but if you get here early there’s thing to take advantage of.

The flat land is perfect for getting on top of one of the taller buildings here, like the barn, and picking people off as they pass through the area. Since it’s flat land with little space to hide, they’ll be ripe for the picking.

Fortnite

Snobby Shores

This is where the other half live. Lucky so-and-sos. They all have very nice houses, and often have nice loot to be found in the attic, too.

The buildings aren’t clustered together and there are walls between them, offering lots and lots of cover, but you can still mount the roof of one house, and then build a path between the rooftops to stay mobile while in the area.

The circle isn’t likely to close here, mind.

Tomato Town

Tomato Town isn’t a bad place to drop, but it tends to be busier than it should be, considering its size and lack of loot.

It tends to be a better place to pass through, but if you can take the restaurant immediately you can quickly fortify the place and fight off intruders from a relatively safe position.

Wailing Woods

Wailing Woods is a great place to drop in to, and a terrible place to pass through. Possibly the opposite of Tomato Town then - luckily, it’s nearby!

There’s a hedge maze at the centre of the wood. In the maze you can find several golden chests, and it gives you a good opportunity to get away from other players, since they won’t be able to shoot you through the thick hedges.

Fortnite

Shifty Shafts

Alright, this one is just on the list because it has a funny name.
